Diving at Batu Ringgit (Tulamben) (Tulamben)

Tucked between Tulamben and Amed, Batu Ringgit is a volcanic reef dive of wild and isolated character. Accessed from shore after a short walk, the initial slope is covered in healthy coral heads, sponges and soft corals. At greater depth the terrain becomes more dramatic, with ridges, crevices and contours that make every turn exciting. With less traffic than more famous sites, it feels pristine, like discovering a hidden corner of Tulamben. The shallow area abounds with anthias, wrasses and angelfish; looking closely reveals leaf scorpionfish, nudibranchs and occasionally pygmy seahorses among gorgonian fans. In deeper waters, schools of fusiliers, jacks and even reef sharks or eagle rays can be seen. This Kubu village site has also become a macro hotspot where it's worth descending to 28-30m to find the Iriomote Phyllodesmium nudibranch, almost exclusive to this spot.
